Dear Current 8th and 9th grade Athletes and Parents,

We will host our annual Rising Stars program at Trinity High School, on Thursday, April 25th at 6:30 p.m. Attendance at this meeting is strongly encouraged for all current 8th and 9th grade parents. The program will be in the MAC indoor football facility and will last until approximately 7:00 p.m.

The goal of the Rising Stars program is to educate athletes and parents on the ways to best position themselves for college and to possibly receive an athletic scholarship. There are several myths and realities regarding scholarships and recruiting that we will cover. Other topics will include:

• Calculating your core GPA.
• When to take the SAT and/or ACT.
• NCAA & Eligibility Center
• Availability of athletic scholarships.

We will discuss the role of coaches, counselors, athletes and parents in the recruiting process. We will also detail the process of applying for financial aid and grants.

Here at Trinity, we have been fortunate to have several student-athletes go on to receive some form of financial and/or scholarship aid in college. We are proud that they will have a chance to receive a college education, and our goal is that every kid understands the process of college readiness…scholarship or not. Our spring Rising Stars presentation is one step in the process of achieving that goal.

Also, our Football Booster Club will have available spirit gear, membership and volunteer sign up to help our continued efforts in funding the football program.
